You are invited to participate in the annual Shakespeare Competition and Workshops sponsored by the Kentucky Branch of the English Speaking Union. Attached to this website are the forms and materials necessary to familiarize you with the Competition and the forms you may submit on-line or download, complete and return to us via fax or U.S. Mail. On the main web page you will find links to the following:
- School Participation Form – This must be returned to us by February 1, 2008.
- School Winner Forms (Senior/Junior Divisions) – This form must be returned to us by February 20, 2008.
- Instructions for School Competition – This informational document will provide you with the rules and guidelines necessary for organizing your own school competition.
- Student Guidelines – This will help students as they prepare their monologues and sonnets.

- ESU Mission Statement and Brief History of the Competition
SENIOR DIVISION (10TH, 11TH, 12TH Grades)
The winner of your school competition will participate in the state ESU Shakespeare Competition on Sunday, March 2, 2008. The event will be held at the Frazier International History Museum located at 829 West Main Street, Louisville, Kentucky. The Kentucky Branch winner will then be awarded an all-expense-paid-trip to New York City for the National Competition in April, 2008. First prize for the winner of the National Shakespeare competition is a summer course in Great Britain. The second-place winner receives a $1,000 cash prize. Third-place is a cash prize of $500.
JUNIOR DIVISION (7TH, 8TH, 9TH Grades)
The winner of your school competition will participate in the state ESU Shakespeare Competition on Sunday, March 2, 2008. The event will be held at the Frazier International History Museum located at 829 West Main Street, Louisville, Kentucky. First, Second and Third place winners will be awarded trophies and other prizes.
